Ronnie Carroll - Independent candidate

In line with our aim of bringing you all the latest news and information we can find about all 14 ot the Hartlepool candidates, we bring you the inside story on Ronnie Carroll.

Although somehow never quite breaking through into the very top flight of British singers, Ronnie Carroll's output on disc was well enough received. He was chosen as the singer for Britain's entry in the Eurovision song contest in 1962 and with 'Ring-A-Ding Girl' achieved a creditable fourth place. This success was followed by two top10 hits during 1962 and 1963, but unfortunately a lack of good material meant that he could not sustain a chart presence. By 1965 he had gone two years without even a minor hit and his marriage had broken down leading to a separation.

During the early 1970s he abandoned his singing career and undertook a disastrous business venture in the Winward Isles. He eventually returned to London and has subsequently used his knowledge of the entertainment business in a management capacity.

He contested Hampstead and Highgate in the 1997 General election and the Uxbridge by election of July 1997.

He has now teaned up with 'Rainbow' George Weiss to bring us The Dream Ticket, offering 333 Lucky Dreamers the chance to run for MP in any constituency they choose from the 333 that had the lowest turn-outs at the last general election.

'Rainbow' George AKA 'The apprentice prophet' confidently predicts that by 05/05/05 555,000 British and Irish islanders will have bought the record and joined the Dream Ticket Party revolution in the process.

He has been quoted as saying "Should Tony Blair (or whoever happens to be in charge at the time) call a general election for 05/05/05, the Dream Ticket Party Movement will surely sweep to a historic victory."
